Car Crash Lawyers Doing Good?

Being a lawyer, I hear a lot of jokes about lawyers and I enjoy most of them.  Lawyers need to have a sense of humor.  However, sometimes we forget that aside from all the joking and criticism, there are many lawyers who do a lot of good.  As a group in a local community, lawyers donate hundreds of hours of legal time to all sorts of pro bona activities and causes.

Local bar associations promote many worthwhile causes such as free legal help for abused children and legal education for young people. Along with the publicized pro bono assistance of attorneys, there is a great deal of help and countless hours of time provided to people in need that is only known and recognized by the individual person and the lawyer.  So while lawyers deserve their fair share of criticism, the public may not be aware that there are many lawyers who go about quietly helping people in need for free without any fanfare or publicity.

Below is a link to an article I enjoyed about a Michigan car accident law firm that offered scholarships to several young people involved in serious car crashes.  The participants wrote essays on their efforts to overcome life-changing injuries from automobile accidents and their efforts to get an education.  This article was published in PRWeb and can be read by clicking the link below.

Every year in the spring and summer months the number of motorcycle accidents increases substantially.   Many injuries and deaths could be prevented if both motorcycle drivers and car drivers were more cautious and more alert in their driving.

Below is a link to another report by the state police about a fatal motorcycle accident.  Even though the law may not require it, wearing a helmet may help prevent serious or fatal injuries.

Injuries from Texting while drivingTexting while Driving Causes Car Accidents.

A recent article from CBS New York claimed you are 23 times more likely to be in a car accident if you are texting while driving.  Whether or not the statistic is totally accurate, there is no question that texting while driving is a dangerous hazard.  It’s obvious that a driver’s attention cannot be fully directed at her/his driving while trying to read or create a text.

The article went on to cite statistics that 1.6 million accidents are attributed to texting while driving in addition to 11 teen deaths a day.  That is startling.

The New York Institute of Technology utilized a driving simulator to instruct students on the dangers of texting while driving.  The simulator was effective in helping students understand that anything less than 100% concentration on driving is dangerous.  You can read this interesting article in full by clicking the link below.

Boise Car Accident AttorneysEleven Year Old Saves Mother in Car Accident

Once in a while, something good comes out of a car accident. We’ve probably all read inspirational stories about a hero who helped save the life of a person involved in an accident. Most of the time, the hero is an adult who exhibits extraordinary bravery or skill in helping another.

The news report below describes how an eleven year old boy helped save his mother’s life after their jeep vehicle went down an embankment and overturned in a creek of water. The young boy was able to crawl out and go for help.

After reading this article, the thought struck me that it might be wise to talk with children occasionally about what they could or should do if they or someone else is involved in an accident. We never know when this information could help save a life.   You can read the full article below:
